“I was very saddened to hear of John’s passing. We were in the same cohort of undergraduates at Lancaster University in the 80s, where John graduated top of his class with a First Class degree in History. He was an exceptional scholar, a very private young man, dedicated, disciplined in his studies. My condolences to his family. This is such a sad loss.”
